For instance, if you’re a resident of Florida, then you should get a Florida medical marijuana card online and avail the benefits.

What Do Scientific Studies Tell?

Now, a new study suggests that cannabis is effective in providing relief to the symptoms of nausea. In the study, more than 96 % of the people reported significant relief only after 5 minutes of consuming cannabis. As per a study published in Annals of Oncology, 88% participants preferred cannabis than placebo due to its significant improvement in controlling the chemotherapy induced nausea. They wanted cannabis treatment irrespective of the side-effects of the herb.

Now, we know cannabis does provide relief from nausea but is it immediate relief? If not, then how much time does the marijuana products take to show its effect? Read below.

Does Cannabis Work for Nausea?

CBD (Cannabinoids) are one of the many chemical compounds found in cannabis plants, known for its healing properties. Though there is limited research on cannabis use for nausea, medical professionals say CBD works for providing relief to nausea patients, especially cancer induced nausea.

Research suggests that CBD might help nausea patients because of its engagement with serotonin receptors. Serotonin is a chemical hormone that influences our different emotions like mood and behavior. However, some say THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) may work better to reduce nausea symptoms than CBD. It may take 30-45 minutes for marijuana to relieve nausea.

Though research shows cannabis may be helpful for nausea but still there is limited study to claim it upfront.

Treats Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychoactive compound found in marijuana that can help treat major ailments including cancer. Studies show that consuming marijuana can reduce the symptoms of nausea induced by cancer chemotherapy. Nausea and vomiting is one of the most feared side-effects of cancer which some medications even may not relieve.

People reported relief after taking Sativex medicine which contains CBD and THC. Patients believe Sativex to be more effective than other medications. However, the FDA (The Food and Drug Administration) has not approved Sativex in America.

The American Cancer Society has added cannabinoids as a treatment option for chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting given that other treatments do not work. They also state that CBD can influence the appetite in cancer patients. These results of cannabis use can improve the quality of life for chemotherapy patients.

Side-Effects

Although CBD may help relieve the nausea symptoms in cancer patients, there are some side-effects of the herb that might cause some problems. Side-effects like dizziness, diarrhea, sedation, and change in appetite are some of the common risks that are related to cannabis use for treating nausea. Research shows that short-term use of cannabis is safe, however, it can be risky in the long run.

Be it nausea, anxiety, inflammation, arthritis, the safest choice is to ask your doctor about it. The doctor will review your condition and guide you correctly on whether you need marijuana or not.
